Surah Hud Ayat 94-95 Translation Tafseer

Para 12 - وَ مَا مِنْ دَآبَّةٍ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

11.94-95

وَ لَمَّا جَآءَ اَمْرُنَا نَجَّیْنَا شُعَیْبًا وَّ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا مَعَهٗ بِرَحْمَةٍ مِّنَّا وَ اَخَذَتِ الَّذِیْنَ ظَلَمُوا الصَّیْحَةُ فَاَصْبَحُوْا فِیْ دِیَارِهِمْ جٰثِمِیْنَۙ (94) كَاَنْ لَّمْ یَغْنَوْا فِیْهَاؕ-اَلَا بُعْدًا لِّمَدْیَنَ كَمَا بَعِدَتْ ثَمُوْدُ۠ (95)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

And when Our decree came to pass, We granted salvation to Shuʿayb and those who believed with him through Our mercy; and the ˹piercing˺ [1] Cry seized the oppressors so in the morning they were lying prostrate, lifeless within their homes as though they had never resided there. Pay heed, (there is) damnation for Madyan just as there was damnation for Thamūd.

The Quranic narrative describes the punishment of the people of Midain in two ways: 1. They were seized by a severe earthquake; 2. The oppressors were affected by a piercing cry. There is no contradiction between these two states as it is possible that punishment began with the cry which was then followed by the earthquake, hence the attributions are to the former and latter causes respectively.
