Surah Al Muminun Ayat 33 Tafseer

Para 18 - قَدْ اَفْلَحَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

23.33-34

وَ قَالَ الْمَلَاُ مِنْ قَوْمِهِ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا وَ كَذَّبُوْا بِلِقَآءِ الْاٰخِرَةِ وَ اَتْرَفْنٰهُمْ فِی الْحَیٰوةِ الدُّنْیَاۙ-مَا هٰذَاۤ اِلَّا بَشَرٌ مِّثْلُكُمْۙ-یَاْكُلُ مِمَّا تَاْكُلُوْنَ مِنْهُ وَ یَشْرَبُ مِمَّا تَشْرَبُوْنَﭪ (33) وَ لَىٕنْ اَطَعْتُمْ بَشَرًا مِّثْلَكُمْ اِنَّكُمْ اِذًا لَّخٰسِرُوْنَۙ (34)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

The chiefs of his nation who disbelieved and denied the meeting of the Hereafter, and whom We had granted affluence in the life of this world, said, “He is but a man like you. He eats from what you eat, and drinks from what you drink.[1] And if you obey a man like yourselves, you will certainly be losers.[1]

Commentary

Deeming prophets to be humans like any other—due to their human habits such as eating and drinking—and disregarding their exceptional spirituality and revelation, has always been a practice of the disbelievers.

To believe that obeying a Prophet incurs loss and disobeying him is success is the way of the disbelievers. In reality, obeying a Prophet saves one from loss and affords the joys of this world and Hereafter. Yet, some who call themselves Muslims consider following the words and actions of disbelievers to be success, and they think adherence to the Prophetic way impedes progression.
