Surah Ash Shura Ayat 224 Tafseer

Para 19 - وَ قَالَ الَّذِیْنَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

26.224-226

وَ الشُّعَرَآءُ یَتَّبِعُهُمُ الْغَاوٗنَﭤ(224) اَلَمْ تَرَ اَنَّهُمْ فِیْ كُلِّ وَادٍ یَّهِیْمُوْنَۙ (225) وَ اَنَّهُمْ یَقُوْلُوْنَ مَا لَا یَفْعَلُوْنَۙ (226)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

And the misguided follow the poets.[1] Did you not see that they wander in every valley? And they say that which they do not do.

Commentary

Some poets from the disbelievers composed poetry against the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, and they would say, “We relate like Muhammad صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم,” and the misguided people from their tribes would narrate this poetry from them. Thus, in this verse, these people were condemned, and it has become apparent from this that it is the way of the misguided: to write poetry of falsehood, to recite it, to relay it to others and to spread it. It is stated in a Hadith, “It is better for anyone of you that his stomach be filled with pus than to be filled with (condemnable) poetry.” (Ṣaḥīḥ Al-Bukhārī: 6154)
