Surah Hud Ayat 17 Tafseer

Para 12 - وَ مَا مِنْ دَآبَّةٍ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

11.17

اَفَمَنْ كَانَ عَلٰى بَیِّنَةٍ مِّنْ رَّبِّهٖ وَ یَتْلُوْهُ شَاهِدٌ مِّنْهُ وَ مِنْ قَبْلِهٖ كِتٰبُ مُوْسٰۤى اِمَامًا وَّ رَحْمَةًؕ-اُولٰٓىٕكَ یُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِهٖؕ-وَ مَنْ یَّكْفُرْ بِهٖ مِنَ الْاَحْزَابِ فَالنَّارُ مَوْعِدُهٗۚ-فَلَا تَكُ فِیْ مِرْیَةٍ مِّنْهُۗ-اِنَّهُ الْحَقُّ مِنْ رَّبِّكَ وَ لٰكِنَّ اَكْثَرَ النَّاسِ لَا یُؤْمِنُوْنَ(17)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

So is he who is upon clear evidence from his Lord and a witness from Allah comes to him;[1] and before it (the Quran) was the Book of Mūsā, a guide and mercy (like the one who follows worldly desires)? They believe in it. And whosoever disbelieves from the groups, the Fire is his promised abode. So, ˹O Listener,˺ do not be in doubt regarding it.[2] Indeed, it is the truth from your Lord. However, most people do not believe.

Commentary

According to some Quranic commentators, “clear evidence” refers to a logical proof which expresses the truthfulness of Islam, “he who is upon clear evidence from his Lord” refers to the Jews who embraced Islam like Sayyidunā ʿAbdullah ibn Salām رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ and “witness” means the Holy Quran; other exegetes state that the aforementioned parts are references to the Holy Quran, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم or the believers, and the archangel Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم, respectively.
