Surah Hud Ayat 40 Tafseer

Para 12 - وَ مَا مِنْ دَآبَّةٍ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

11.40

حَتّٰۤى اِذَا جَآءَ اَمْرُنَا وَ فَارَ التَّنُّوْرُۙ-قُلْنَا احْمِلْ فِیْهَا مِنْ كُلٍّ زَوْجَیْنِ اثْنَیْنِ وَ اَهْلَكَ اِلَّا مَنْ سَبَقَ عَلَیْهِ الْقَوْلُ وَ مَنْ اٰمَنَؕ-وَ مَاۤ اٰمَنَ مَعَهٗۤ اِلَّا قَلِیْلٌ(40)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

English translation of Kanz-ul-Imaan

To the extent that when Our command came and the clay oven gushed forth water, We said, 'Board the Ark as a pair; male and female; from every species, and your family members, and all other Muslims except those upon whom the Word (of punishment) has gone forth.' And there were only a few Muslims with him.

Commentary

This is a reference to the wife of Prophet Nūh عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم, Wā‘ilah, and his son Kanʿān; both did not embrace faith and so Allah Almighty decreed destruction for them.
