Surah Yasin Ayat 43-44 Translation Tafseer

Para 23 - وَ مَا لِیَ

سورة يس

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

36.43-44

وَ اِنْ نَّشَاْ نُغْرِقْهُمْ فَلَا صَرِیْخَ لَهُمْ وَ لَا هُمْ یُنْقَذُوْنَۙ (43) اِلَّا رَحْمَةً مِّنَّا وَ مَتَاعًا اِلٰى حِیْنٍ(44)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

And if We want, We can cause them to drown; there would be no helper for them nor would they be saved. Except mercy from Us and taking benefit for some time. [1]

Commentary

If Allah Almighty wills, He can cause the people on ships to drown, in which case there will be no one to hear their plea and rescue them. After such a command from the Lord, it is not possible to save those who are drowning unless it be due to Divine mercy and there being some time remaining for these people to gain benefit from the world. There is a lesson in this for us to avoid arrogance which stems from the materialistic means we have to protect ourselves. Instead, we ought to adopt apparent means and then rely upon the mercy of Allah Almighty. One should also not be neglectful and unmindful of Allah Almighty when in a state of comfort and joy.
