Surah An Noor Ayat 59 Tafseer

Para 18 - قَدْ اَفْلَحَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

24.59

وَ اِذَا بَلَغَ الْاَطْفَالُ مِنْكُمُ الْحُلُمَ فَلْیَسْتَاْذِنُوْا كَمَا اسْتَاْذَنَ الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِهِمْؕ-كَذٰلِكَ یُبَیِّنُ اللّٰهُ لَكُمْ اٰیٰتِهٖؕ-وَ اللّٰهُ عَلِیْمٌ حَكِیْمٌ(59)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

English translation of Kanz-ul-Imaan

And when the boys amongst you reach adulthood, they too must hence seek permission like those before them had sought permission (after reaching adulthood); this is how Allah explains His verses to you, and Allah is All-Knowing, Ever Wise.

Commentary

Meaning, when your sons or the sons of your close relatives reach the age of maturity, they should seek permission before entering the home at all times, just as those adult males sought permission before them. Consider the wisdom of seeking permission before entering the home: A person asked the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, “Should I seek permission even when I go to my mother?” He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied, “Yes.” He then said, “I live in the same house as her.” He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Seek permission when going to her.” He then said, “I serve her (i.e., I have to come and go constantly, do I still need to seek permission?).” He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Seek permission before going; would you want to see her without clothes?” He replied, “No.” He صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “So seek permission.” (Muwaṭṭa Al-Imām Mālik: 1847)
