Para 13 - وَ مَاۤ اُبَرِّئُ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

13.30

كَذٰلِكَ اَرْسَلْنٰكَ فِیْۤ اُمَّةٍ قَدْ خَلَتْ مِنْ قَبْلِهَاۤ اُمَمٌ لِّتَتْلُوَاۡ عَلَیْهِمُ الَّذِیْۤ اَوْحَیْنَاۤ اِلَیْكَ وَ هُمْ یَكْفُرُوْنَ بِالرَّحْمٰنِؕ-قُلْ هُوَ رَبِّیْ لَاۤ اِلٰهَ اِلَّا هُوَۚ-عَلَیْهِ تَوَكَّلْتُ وَ اِلَیْهِ مَتَابِ(30)

English translation of Kanz-ul-Imaan

Similarly, We sent you (O Beloved) towards that community, before which other communities have passed on; that you recite to them the revelation We sent down to you, and they are denying the Most Gracious. Say you, 'He is my Lord; there is no one worthy of worship except Him, I relied upon only Him and towards only Him is my return.'

Commentary

This verse was revealed during the Treaty of Hudaybiyah; when Suhayl ibn ‘Amr brought the agreement and the writing began, the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم instructed Sayyidunā ‘Ālī رَضِىَ الـلّٰـهُ عَـنْهُ: “Write ‘بِسْمِ اللّٰہِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیمْ’ (In the Name of Allah, the Infinitely Gracious, the Most Merciful).” The disbelievers expressed their disapproval of this wording stating that their customary expression ‘بِاِسْمِکَ اللّٰھُمَّ’ (In Your Name, O Allah) should be written. The verse refers to this denial of “the Infinitely Gracious”.
