Surah An Naml Ayat 41-42-43 Translation Tafseer

Para 19 - وَ قَالَ الَّذِیْنَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

27.41-42-43

قَالَ نَكِّرُوْا لَهَا عَرْشَهَا نَنْظُرْ اَتَهْتَدِیْۤ اَمْ تَكُوْنُ مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ لَا یَهْتَدُوْنَ(41) فَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ قِیْلَ اَهٰكَذَا عَرْشُكِؕ-قَالَتْ كَاَنَّهٗ هُوَۚ-وَ اُوْتِیْنَا الْعِلْمَ مِنْ قَبْلِهَا وَ كُنَّا مُسْلِمِیْنَ(42) وَ صَدَّهَا مَا كَانَتْ تَّعْبُدُ مِنْ دُوْنِ اللّٰهِؕ-اِنَّهَا كَانَتْ مِنْ قَوْمٍ كٰفِرِیْنَ(43)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

He (Sulaymān) said, “Change her throne for her; we shall see whether she finds the path or becomes of those who do not find the path.” Then when she arrived, it was said to her, “Is your throne like this?” She said, “It seems to be the same. And we were given knowledge before this and we are obedient.” And that which she worshipped apart from Allah had prevented her ˹from the truth˺; she was from a disbelieving nation.[1]

Sun worship had prevented Bilqīs from worshipping Allah almighty and affirming His Oneness or from accepting Islam. Bilqīs was affiliated with a nation who would worship the Sun, and as she was brought up amongst them, she only knew how to worship the Sun.
