Surah An Naml Ayat 56-57-58 Translation Tafseer

Para 19 - وَ قَالَ الَّذِیْنَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

27.56-57-58

فَمَا كَانَ جَوَابَ قَوْمِهٖۤ اِلَّاۤ اَنْ قَالُوْۤا اَخْرِجُوْۤا اٰلَ لُوْطٍ مِّنْ قَرْیَتِكُمْۚ-اِنَّهُمْ اُنَاسٌ یَّتَطَهَّرُوْنَ(56) فَاَنْجَیْنٰهُ وَ اَهْلَهٗۤ اِلَّا امْرَاَتَهٗ٘-قَدَّرْنٰهَا مِنَ الْغٰبِرِیْنَ(57) وَ اَمْطَرْنَا عَلَیْهِمْ مَّطَرًاۚ-فَسَآءَ مَطَرُ الْمُنْذَرِیْنَ۠ (58)

Kanz-ul-Irfan

So the answer of his nation was only their statement, “Banish the family of Lūṭ from your village; they are people who are overly pure.”[1] So We granted him and his family salvation except his wife; We had appointed her among those who remained behind. And We rained upon them a rain; so how evil was the rain of the warned.

This statement of Prophet Lūṭ’s nation shows their extreme contempt, for instead of considering their actions to be evil and abstaining from them, they mocked Prophet Lūṭ عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام and his companions by saying they are “overly pure”. Many similar transgressions have spread in our society too, where the culprits take pride in their indecency, whereas, the religion, its adherents and their religious observances are mocked.
