Para 21 - اُتْلُ مَاۤ اُوْحِیَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

33.5

اُدْعُوْهُمْ لِاٰبَآىٕهِمْ هُوَ اَقْسَطُ عِنْدَ اللّٰهِۚ-فَاِنْ لَّمْ تَعْلَمُوْۤا اٰبَآءَهُمْ فَاِخْوَانُكُمْ فِی الدِّیْنِ وَ مَوَالِیْكُمْؕ-وَ لَیْسَ عَلَیْكُمْ جُنَاحٌ فِیْمَاۤ اَخْطَاْتُمْ بِهٖۙ-وَ لٰـكِنْ مَّا تَعَمَّدَتْ قُلُوْبُكُمْؕ-وَ كَانَ اللّٰهُ غَفُوْرًا رَّحِیْمًا(5)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

Call them by ˹the names of˺ their ˹biological˺ fathers; this is more just in the Court of Allah. So if you do not know their fathers, then they are your brothers in religion and your friends; and there is no sin upon you regarding the mistake you made without knowing, however, there is sin in that which your hearts intended. [1] And Allah is Most-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.

Commentary

It is permissible to adopt a child. However, it must be remembered that in general speech or on documents etc., the adopting father is not allowed to use his own name to declare himself as the biological father, rather the actual father’s name must be used in every place. Despite all efforts, if the real father’s name cannot be ascertained, even then the adopting father cannot use his name to show he is the real father. It is necessary upon him to only use his own name as a guardian.
