Para 21 - اُتْلُ مَاۤ اُوْحِیَ

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

33.6

اَلنَّبِیُّ اَوْلٰى بِالْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ مِنْ اَنْفُسِهِمْ وَ اَزْوَاجُهٗۤ اُمَّهٰتُهُمْؕ-وَ اُولُوا الْاَرْحَامِ بَعْضُهُمْ اَوْلٰى بِبَعْضٍ فِیْ كِتٰبِ اللّٰهِ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِیْنَ وَ الْمُهٰجِرِیْنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْ تَفْعَلُوْۤا اِلٰۤى اَوْلِیٰٓىٕكُمْ مَّعْرُوْفًاؕ-كَانَ ذٰلِكَ فِی الْكِتٰبِ مَسْطُوْرًا(6)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

English translation of Kanz-ul-Irfan

The Prophet has more right over the Muslims than their own selves, and his wivesare their mothers. [1] And the relatives are closer to one another, in the Book of Allah, than the ˹other˺ believers and migrants except that you do good to your friends; [2] this is written in the Book.

Commentary

The pure wives of the Prophet رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُنَّ are akin to one’s biological mother in terms of marriage, i.e., the believers were forbidden to marry them after the demise of the Prophet. However, in other aspects, such as inheritance and veiling, they are subject to the same stipulations as any other non-maḥram woman. Moreover, although they are the Mothers of the Believers, in general, their daughters are not referred to as the “sisters of the believers” and their siblings are not the uncles and aunts of the believers.
