Surah Al Maidah Urdu Translation

5.0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

In the name of Allah, the Infinitely Gracious, the Most Merciful.

5.1

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اَوْفُوْا بِالْعُقُوْدِ۬ؕ-اُحِلَّتْ لَكُمْ بَهِیْمَةُ الْاَنْعَامِ اِلَّا مَا یُتْلٰى عَلَیْكُمْ غَیْرَ مُحِـلِّی الصَّیْدِ وَ اَنْتُمْ حُرُمٌؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ یَحْكُمُ مَا یُرِیْدُ(1)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O you who believe! Fulfil all oaths. Livestock has been made lawful for you[1] except that which will (soon) be mentioned to you.[2] (However,) hunting (game) is not permitted while you are in the state of Iḥrām. Allah commands whatever He wills.

5.2

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تُحِلُّوْا شَعَآىٕرَ اللّٰهِ وَ لَا الشَّهْرَ الْحَرَامَ وَ لَا الْهَدْیَ وَ لَا الْقَلَآىٕدَ وَ لَاۤ ﰰمِّیْنَ الْبَیْتَ الْحَرَامَ یَبْتَغُوْنَ فَضْلًا مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ وَ رِضْوَانًاؕ-وَ اِذَا حَلَلْتُمْ فَاصْطَادُوْاؕ-وَ لَا یَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَاٰنُ قَوْمٍ اَنْ صَدُّوْكُمْ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ اَنْ تَعْتَدُوْاۘ-وَ تَعَاوَنُوْا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَ التَّقْوٰى ۪-وَ لَا تَعَاوَنُوْا عَلَى الْاِثْمِ وَ الْعُدْوَانِ۪- وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ شَدِیْدُ الْعِقَابِٛ (2)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O you who believe! Do not violate the sanctity of the signs of Allah,[1] the sacred months, the sacrificial animals sent forth, the animals brought forth wearing marked collars, and the pilgrims attending the Honoured House, seeking the Grace and Pleasure of their Lord.[2] And when you leave the state of Iḥrām, then you may hunt. And the enmity of a tribe who prevented you from entering the Sacred House (Al-Masjid al-Ḥarām) should not incite you to transgress. And help one another in matters of good and righteousness,[3] and do not help each other in sin and transgression—and be mindful of Allah. Indeed Allah is severe in retribution.

5.3

حُرِّمَتْ عَلَیْكُمُ الْمَیْتَةُ وَ الدَّمُ وَ لَحْمُ الْخِنْزِیْرِ وَ مَاۤ اُهِلَّ لِغَیْرِ اللّٰهِ بِهٖ وَ الْمُنْخَنِقَةُ وَ الْمَوْقُوْذَةُ وَ الْمُتَرَدِّیَةُ وَ النَّطِیْحَةُ وَ مَاۤ اَكَلَ السَّبُعُ اِلَّا مَا ذَكَّیْتُمْ- وَ مَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ وَ اَنْ تَسْتَقْسِمُوْا بِالْاَزْلَامِؕ-ذٰلِكُمْ فِسْقٌؕ-اَلْیَوْمَ یَىٕسَ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا مِنْ دِیْنِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَ اخْشَوْنِؕ-اَلْیَوْمَ اَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِیْنَكُمْ وَ اَتْمَمْتُ عَلَیْكُمْ نِعْمَتِیْ وَ رَضِیْتُ لَكُمُ الْاِسْلَامَ دِیْنًاؕ-فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِیْ مَخْمَصَةٍ غَیْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّاِثْمٍۙ-فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِیْمٌ(3)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Prohibited for you are carrion, blood, the flesh of swine, those animals which were slaughtered in the name of other than Allah,[1] killed by strangulation, beating, falling, or by being gored ˹by an animal,˺ what is ˹partly˺ eaten by predators, unless hunted and slaughtered by you, and what is sacrificed at the altar. It is unlawful to cast arrows (divination) to seek knowledge of fate. This is transgression. This day, the disbelievers have lost hope concerning your religion. So, do not fear them and fear Me. This day, I have perfected your religion for you, and completed My favour upon you,[2] and chosen Islam for you as a religion.[3] So whosoever is compelled due to extreme hunger and thirst while he is not inclined to sin (he may consume),[4] then indeed Allah is Most-Forgiving, Most-Merciful.

5.4

یَسْــٴَـلُوْنَكَ مَا ذَاۤ اُحِلَّ لَهُمْؕ-قُلْ اُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّیِّبٰتُۙ-وَ مَا عَلَّمْتُمْ مِّنَ الْجَوَارِ حِ مُكَلِّبِیْنَ تُعَلِّمُوْنَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ اللّٰهُ٘-فَكُلُوْا مِمَّاۤ اَمْسَكْنَ عَلَیْكُمْ وَ اذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللّٰهِ عَلَیْهِ۪-وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَرِیْعُ الْحِسَابِ(4)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

˹Dear Beloved Prophet,˺ they ask you about what was made lawful (ḥalāl ) for them, say, “Pure things have been made lawful for you, and (the prey of) the hunting animal you have trained. You teach them that which Allah taught you, so eat from that which they leave for you, and mention the name of Allah upon them (as you release them);[1] and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Most-Swift in reckoning.”

5.5

اَلْیَوْمَ اُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّیِّبٰتُؕ-وَ طَعَامُ الَّذِیْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتٰبَ حِلٌّ لَّكُمْ۪-وَ طَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَّهُمْ٘-وَ الْمُحْصَنٰتُ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِ وَ الْمُحْصَنٰتُ مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتٰبَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ اِذَاۤ اٰتَیْتُمُوْهُنَّ اُجُوْرَهُنَّ مُحْصِنِیْنَ غَیْرَ مُسٰفِحِیْنَ وَ لَا مُتَّخِذِیْۤ اَخْدَانٍؕ-وَ مَنْ یَّكْفُرْ بِالْاِیْمَانِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهٗ٘-وَ هُوَ فِی الْاٰخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخٰسِرِیْنَ۠ (5)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

This day, pure things have been made lawful ( halāl ) for you. The food of the People of the Book is lawful for you,[1] and your food is lawful for them. The chaste Muslim women and the chaste women from those who were given the Book before you ˹are lawful for you˺ when you give them their bridal gifts (mahr),[2] marrying them, neither fornicating nor adopting secret (illicit) relations with them. And whosoever disbelieves, rejecting faith, then indeed his every deed is void, and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter.

5.6

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اِذَا قُمْتُمْ اِلَى الصَّلٰوةِ فَاغْسِلُوْا وُجُوْهَكُمْ وَ اَیْدِیَكُمْ اِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَ امْسَحُوْا بِرُءُوْسِكُمْ وَ اَرْجُلَكُمْ اِلَى الْكَعْبَیْنِؕ-وَ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُوْاؕ-وَ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مَّرْضٰۤى اَوْ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ اَوْ جَآءَ اَحَدٌ مِّنْكُمْ مِّنَ الْغَآىٕطِ اَوْ لٰمَسْتُمُ النِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوْا مَآءً فَتَیَمَّمُوْا صَعِیْدًا طَیِّبًا فَامْسَحُوْا بِوُجُوْهِكُمْ وَ اَیْدِیْكُمْ مِّنْهُؕ-مَا یُرِیْدُ اللّٰهُ لِیَجْعَلَ عَلَیْكُمْ مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَّ لٰـكِنْ یُّرِیْدُ لِیُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَ لِیُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهٗ عَلَیْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ(6)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O you who believe! When you ˹are about to˺ stand for prayer, wash your faces and your hands up to your elbows, wipe over your heads, and wash your feet up to your ankles.[1] And if you are in a state of major ritual impurity, then become thoroughly pure. And if you are ill or travelling or one of you has come from relieving himself or you have performed intercourse with women and do not find water, then ˹in these states,˺ perform dry ablution (tayammum) with pure soil, wiping over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to create hardship for you, rather He wants to purify you fully, and to complete His favour upon you that you may express gratitude.

5.7

وَ اذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَیْكُمْ وَ مِیْثَاقَهُ الَّذِیْ وَاثَقَكُمْ بِهٖۤۙ-اِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَ اَطَعْنَا٘-وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلِیْمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوْرِ(7)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And remember the favour of Allah upon you, and the oath which He took from you when you said, “We heard and we obeyed.”[1] And fear Allah. Allah knows the matter of hearts.

5.8

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا كُوْنُوْا قَوّٰمِیْنَ لِلّٰهِ شُهَدَآءَ بِالْقِسْطِ٘-وَ لَا یَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَاٰنُ قَوْمٍ عَلٰۤى اَلَّا تَعْدِلُوْاؕ-اِعْدِلُوْا- هُوَ اَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوٰى٘-وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ خَبِیْرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ(8)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O you who believe! Become steadfast upon the command of Allah while testifying with justice. And the enmity of a nation should not incite you to be unjust, (rather) be just; this is nearer to righteousness. And fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is aware of all your deeds.[1]

5.9

وَعَدَ اللّٰهُ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِۙ-لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَّ اَجْرٌ عَظِیْمٌ(9)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Allah has promised the believers and those who perform righteous deeds that there is forgiveness and great reward for them.
