Surah Al Maidah Translation

5.0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

5.1

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اَوْفُوْا بِالْعُقُوْدِ۬ؕ-اُحِلَّتْ لَكُمْ بَهِیْمَةُ الْاَنْعَامِ اِلَّا مَا یُتْلٰى عَلَیْكُمْ غَیْرَ مُحِـلِّی الصَّیْدِ وَ اَنْتُمْ حُرُمٌؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ یَحْكُمُ مَا یُرِیْدُ(1)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O believers! Fulfil your promises. Mute animals are made lawful for you (to eat) except that which will be stated to you further on, but do not regard hunting as lawful when you are in the state of Ihraam (the ritual attire for the performance of pilgrimage). Indeed, Allah commands as He wills.

5.2

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا تُحِلُّوْا شَعَآىٕرَ اللّٰهِ وَ لَا الشَّهْرَ الْحَرَامَ وَ لَا الْهَدْیَ وَ لَا الْقَلَآىٕدَ وَ لَاۤ ﰰمِّیْنَ الْبَیْتَ الْحَرَامَ یَبْتَغُوْنَ فَضْلًا مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ وَ رِضْوَانًاؕ-وَ اِذَا حَلَلْتُمْ فَاصْطَادُوْاؕ-وَ لَا یَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَاٰنُ قَوْمٍ اَنْ صَدُّوْكُمْ عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ اَنْ تَعْتَدُوْاۘ-وَ تَعَاوَنُوْا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَ التَّقْوٰى ۪-وَ لَا تَعَاوَنُوْا عَلَى الْاِثْمِ وَ الْعُدْوَانِ۪- وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ شَدِیْدُ الْعِقَابِٛ (2)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O believers! Do not make lawful (i.e. dishonour) the symbols of Allah, nor the sacred months, nor the sacrificial animals sent to the Sacred Territory (around Makkah), nor those (animals) bearing signs around their necks, nor the wealth and honour of those travelling towards the Sacred House (Ka'bah) seeking the bounty and contentment of their Lord. And when (you) come out of Ihraam, you may therefore hunt, and let not the enmity of the people, who prevented you from the Sacred Masjid, tempt you to do injustice. And help one another in righteousness and piety, and do not help one another in sin and injustice, and keep fearing Allah; indeed, Allah's punishment is severe.

5.3

حُرِّمَتْ عَلَیْكُمُ الْمَیْتَةُ وَ الدَّمُ وَ لَحْمُ الْخِنْزِیْرِ وَ مَاۤ اُهِلَّ لِغَیْرِ اللّٰهِ بِهٖ وَ الْمُنْخَنِقَةُ وَ الْمَوْقُوْذَةُ وَ الْمُتَرَدِّیَةُ وَ النَّطِیْحَةُ وَ مَاۤ اَكَلَ السَّبُعُ اِلَّا مَا ذَكَّیْتُمْ- وَ مَا ذُبِحَ عَلَى النُّصُبِ وَ اَنْ تَسْتَقْسِمُوْا بِالْاَزْلَامِؕ-ذٰلِكُمْ فِسْقٌؕ-اَلْیَوْمَ یَىٕسَ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا مِنْ دِیْنِكُمْ فَلَا تَخْشَوْهُمْ وَ اخْشَوْنِؕ-اَلْیَوْمَ اَكْمَلْتُ لَكُمْ دِیْنَكُمْ وَ اَتْمَمْتُ عَلَیْكُمْ نِعْمَتِیْ وَ رَضِیْتُ لَكُمُ الْاِسْلَامَ دِیْنًاؕ-فَمَنِ اضْطُرَّ فِیْ مَخْمَصَةٍ غَیْرَ مُتَجَانِفٍ لِّاِثْمٍۙ-فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ غَفُوْرٌ رَّحِیْمٌ(3)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Forbidden for you (to eat) is carrion (dead meat), and blood, and the flesh of swine, and that which has been slaughtered while proclaiming any name other than Allah, and the one killed by strangling, and the one killed by having been beaten by an unsharpened object, and the one that died by falling, and that which was stabbed by the horn of some animal, and the one eaten by a wild animal, except those whom you slaughter (before its death). And (also forbidden is) that which is slaughtered near any temple having idols (as a mark of respect to the idols), and seeking one's share of luck by throwing fortune-telling arrows (to predict future events); this is an act of sin. Today, the disbelievers are in disappointment concerning your religion; so, do not fear them, and fear Me. Today, I have perfected for you your religion and completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islam as your religion. Whosoever is therefore forced by intense hunger and thirst, such that he does not incline towards sin (by consuming more than necessary); so, Allah is indeed Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

5.4

یَسْــٴَـلُوْنَكَ مَا ذَاۤ اُحِلَّ لَهُمْؕ-قُلْ اُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّیِّبٰتُۙ-وَ مَا عَلَّمْتُمْ مِّنَ الْجَوَارِ حِ مُكَلِّبِیْنَ تُعَلِّمُوْنَهُنَّ مِمَّا عَلَّمَكُمُ اللّٰهُ٘-فَكُلُوْا مِمَّاۤ اَمْسَكْنَ عَلَیْكُمْ وَ اذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللّٰهِ عَلَیْهِ۪-وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ سَرِیْعُ الْحِسَابِ(4)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O Beloved, they ask you as to what has been made lawful for them. Say you; that 'Pure things have been made lawful for you, and (lawful are those animals brought by) the animals of prey which you have trained and use for hunting, (since) you teach them from that knowledge which Allah has granted you; so, eat from that what they hunt and leave for you, and (at the time of releasing the animal of prey to hunt), mention the Name of Allah upon it, and keep fearing Allah. Indeed, Allah is Swift in taking account.'

5.5

اَلْیَوْمَ اُحِلَّ لَكُمُ الطَّیِّبٰتُؕ-وَ طَعَامُ الَّذِیْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتٰبَ حِلٌّ لَّكُمْ۪-وَ طَعَامُكُمْ حِلٌّ لَّهُمْ٘-وَ الْمُحْصَنٰتُ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنٰتِ وَ الْمُحْصَنٰتُ مِنَ الَّذِیْنَ اُوْتُوا الْكِتٰبَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ اِذَاۤ اٰتَیْتُمُوْهُنَّ اُجُوْرَهُنَّ مُحْصِنِیْنَ غَیْرَ مُسٰفِحِیْنَ وَ لَا مُتَّخِذِیْۤ اَخْدَانٍؕ-وَ مَنْ یَّكْفُرْ بِالْاِیْمَانِ فَقَدْ حَبِطَ عَمَلُهٗ٘-وَ هُوَ فِی الْاٰخِرَةِ مِنَ الْخٰسِرِیْنَ۠ (5)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Today, the pure things are made lawful for you, and the food of the People of the Book is lawful for you, and your food is lawful for them, and are (lawful for you) the virtuous Muslim women and the virtuous women from the people who received the Book before you when you give them their dowries and marry them, not committing unlawful intercourse, nor keeping them as mistresses. And whoever becomes a disbeliever after being a Muslim, all his (good) deeds are destroyed and he is amongst the losers in the Hereafter.

5.6

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْۤا اِذَا قُمْتُمْ اِلَى الصَّلٰوةِ فَاغْسِلُوْا وُجُوْهَكُمْ وَ اَیْدِیَكُمْ اِلَى الْمَرَافِقِ وَ امْسَحُوْا بِرُءُوْسِكُمْ وَ اَرْجُلَكُمْ اِلَى الْكَعْبَیْنِؕ-وَ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ جُنُبًا فَاطَّهَّرُوْاؕ-وَ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ مَّرْضٰۤى اَوْ عَلٰى سَفَرٍ اَوْ جَآءَ اَحَدٌ مِّنْكُمْ مِّنَ الْغَآىٕطِ اَوْ لٰمَسْتُمُ النِّسَآءَ فَلَمْ تَجِدُوْا مَآءً فَتَیَمَّمُوْا صَعِیْدًا طَیِّبًا فَامْسَحُوْا بِوُجُوْهِكُمْ وَ اَیْدِیْكُمْ مِّنْهُؕ-مَا یُرِیْدُ اللّٰهُ لِیَجْعَلَ عَلَیْكُمْ مِّنْ حَرَجٍ وَّ لٰـكِنْ یُّرِیْدُ لِیُطَهِّرَكُمْ وَ لِیُتِمَّ نِعْمَتَهٗ عَلَیْكُمْ لَعَلَّكُمْ تَشْكُرُوْنَ(6)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O believers! When you intend to stand up for Salah; so, wash your faces, and your hands up to (i.e. including) the elbows, and pass wet hands (i.e. perform Massah - wipe) over your heads and wash your feet up to (i.e. including) the ankles. And if you need to have an obligatory bath; so, clean yourselves thoroughly, and if you are sick or on a journey, or if any of you comes having responded to the call of nature, or you have had intercourse with your wives; and in these conditions you do not find water, so, perform Tayammum with pure sand; hence, rub your faces therewith and your hands (i.e. including the forearms as well as the elbows). Allah does not will to place any hardship upon you. Yes; He wills to purify you totally and complete His Favour upon you (so) that you may be grateful.

5.7

وَ اذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَیْكُمْ وَ مِیْثَاقَهُ الَّذِیْ وَاثَقَكُمْ بِهٖۤۙ-اِذْ قُلْتُمْ سَمِعْنَا وَ اَطَعْنَا٘-وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ عَلِیْمٌۢ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُوْرِ(7)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And remember Allah's Favour upon you, and the covenant which He took from you when you said that 'We heard and we obeyed,' and fear Allah. Indeed, Allah knows what is within the hearts.

5.8

یٰۤاَیُّهَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا كُوْنُوْا قَوّٰمِیْنَ لِلّٰهِ شُهَدَآءَ بِالْقِسْطِ٘-وَ لَا یَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ شَنَاٰنُ قَوْمٍ عَلٰۤى اَلَّا تَعْدِلُوْاؕ-اِعْدِلُوْا- هُوَ اَقْرَبُ لِلتَّقْوٰى٘-وَ اتَّقُوا اللّٰهَؕ-اِنَّ اللّٰهَ خَبِیْرٌۢ بِمَا تَعْمَلُوْنَ(8)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

O believers! Be intensely steadfast in the command of Allah, while giving testimony with justice, and do not let the enmity of any nation provoke you not to do justice, be just; that is closer to piety. And fear Allah; indeed, Allah is Aware of your actions.

5.9

وَعَدَ اللّٰهُ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا وَ عَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِۙ-لَهُمْ مَّغْفِرَةٌ وَّ اَجْرٌ عَظِیْمٌ(9)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Allah's promise is with the pious believers; that for them is forgiveness and great reward.

Surah Al Maidah Translation

سورة الماىدة
