Surah Al Baqarah Translation

2.0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

2.1

الٓمّٓۚ (1)

Alif-Laam-Meem. (These are individual letters of the Arabic alphabet; Allah and His Messenger know their exact meanings.)

2.2

ذٰلِكَ الْكِتٰبُ لَا رَیْبَ ﶈ فِیْهِ ۚۛ-هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِیْنَۙ (2)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

That high-ranking Book (i.e. the Qur'aan); there is no room for doubt in it, guidance for those who fear (Allah).

2.3

الَّذِیْنَ یُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْغَیْبِ وَ یُقِیْمُوْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَ مِمَّا رَزَقْنٰهُمْ یُنْفِقُوْنَۙ (3)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Those who believe without seeing, and keep Salah (i.e. the five daily prayers) established and spend in Our path from the sustenance We have bestowed (upon them).

2.4

وَ الَّذِیْنَ یُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِمَاۤ اُنْزِلَ اِلَیْكَ وَ مَاۤ اُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَۚ-وَ بِالْاٰخِرَةِ هُمْ یُوْقِنُوْنَﭤ (4)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And those who believe in what came down towards you, O Beloved, and what came down before you, and have certainty of the Hereafter.

2.5

اُولٰٓىٕكَ عَلٰى هُدًى مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْۗ-وَ اُولٰٓىٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ(5)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Only those people are upon guidance from their Lord and only they are to attain success.

2.6

اِنَّ الَّذِیْنَ كَفَرُوْا سَوَآءٌ عَلَیْهِمْ ءَاَنْذَرْتَهُمْ اَمْ لَمْ تُنْذِرْهُمْ لَا یُؤْمِنُوْنَ(6)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Undoubtedly, those in whose destiny is disbelief, it is the same for them whether you warn them or warn them not; they are not to believe.

2.7

خَتَمَ اللّٰهُ عَلٰى قُلُوْبِهِمْ وَ عَلٰى سَمْعِهِمْؕ-وَ عَلٰۤى اَبْصَارِهِمْ غِشَاوَةٌ٘-وَّ لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ عَظِیْمٌ۠ (7)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and ears, and over their eyes is a blindfold (of persistent disbelief), and for them is a great punishment.

2.8

وَ مِنَ النَّاسِ مَنْ یَّقُوْلُ اٰمَنَّا بِاللّٰهِ وَ بِالْیَوْمِ الْاٰخِرِ وَ مَا هُمْ بِمُؤْمِنِیْنَﭥ (8)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And some people say that 'We believed in Allah and the Last Day,' and they are not believers.

2.9

یُخٰدِعُوْنَ اللّٰهَ وَ الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوْا ۚ-وَ مَا یَخْدَعُوْنَ اِلَّاۤ اَنْفُسَهُمْ وَ مَا یَشْعُرُوْنَﭤ(9)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

They wish to deceive Allah and the believers, and in reality, they deceive not but their own selves, and they have no perception.
