Surah Ibrahim Translation

14.0

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِیْمِ

Allah's Name to commence with, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

14.1

الٓرٰ- كِتٰبٌ اَنْزَلْنٰهُ اِلَیْكَ لِتُخْرِ جَ النَّاسَ مِنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوْرِ ﳔ بِاِذْنِ رَبِّهِمْ اِلٰى صِرَاطِ الْعَزِیْزِ الْحَمِیْدِۙ (1)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Alif-Laam-Ra. (These are individual letters of the Arabic alphabet; Allah and His Messenger know their exact meanings.) (This Qur'aan) is a Book that We have sent down upon you (O Beloved) that you may bring forth people from darknesses into light; by the command of their Lord, towards the path of the Most Honourable, the Most Praiseworthy.

14.2

اللّٰهِ الَّذِیْ لَهٗ مَا فِی السَّمٰوٰتِ وَ مَا فِی الْاَرْضِؕ-وَ وَیْلٌ لِّلْكٰفِرِیْنَ مِنْ عَذَابٍ شَدِیْدِﹰۙ (2)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

(I.e.) Allah; that only to Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth. And woe to the disbelievers on account of a severe punishment.

14.3

الَّذِیْنَ یَسْتَحِبُّوْنَ الْحَیٰوةَ الدُّنْیَا عَلَى الْاٰخِرَةِ وَ یَصُدُّوْنَ عَنْ سَبِیْلِ اللّٰهِ وَ یَبْغُوْنَهَا عِوَجًاؕ-اُولٰٓىٕكَ فِیْ ضَلٰلٍۭ بَعِیْدٍ(3)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

To whom the worldly life is dearer than the Hereafter, and who prevent (people) from the way of Allah and wish deviation in it; they are in far misguidance.

14.4

وَ مَاۤ اَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ رَّسُوْلٍ اِلَّا بِلِسَانِ قَوْمِهٖ لِیُبَیِّنَ لَهُمْؕ-فَیُضِلُّ اللّٰهُ مَنْ یَّشَآءُ وَ یَهْدِیْ مَنْ یَّشَآءُؕ-وَ هُوَ الْعَزِیْزُ الْحَكِیْمُ(4)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And We sent every Messenger with the very language of his people, that he may explain to them clearly. Then, Allah causes to go astray whomever He wills, and He guides whomsoever He wills; and only He is the Most Honourable, the Wise.

14.5

وَ لَقَدْ اَرْسَلْنَا مُوْسٰى بِاٰیٰتِنَاۤ اَنْ اَخْرِ جْ قَوْمَكَ مِنَ الظُّلُمٰتِ اِلَى النُّوْرِ ﳔ وَ ذَكِّرْهُمْ بِاَیّٰىمِ اللّٰهِؕ-اِنَّ فِیْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰیٰتٍ لِّكُلِّ صَبَّارٍ شَكُوْرٍ(5)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And We indeed sent Moosa along with Our signs; that 'Bring your people from darknesses into light, and remind them of the days of Allah (when various favours were bestowed); indeed, in them (remembering these days) are signs for every greatly patient thankful person.'

14.6

وَ اِذْ قَالَ مُوْسٰى لِقَوْمِهِ اذْكُرُوْا نِعْمَةَ اللّٰهِ عَلَیْكُمْ اِذْ اَنْجٰىكُمْ مِّنْ اٰلِ فِرْعَوْنَ یَسُوْمُوْنَكُمْ سُوْٓءَ الْعَذَابِ وَ یُذَبِّحُوْنَ اَبْنَآءَكُمْ وَ یَسْتَحْیُوْنَ نِسَآءَكُمْؕ-وَ فِیْ ذٰلِكُمْ بَلَآءٌ مِّنْ رَّبِّكُمْ عَظِیْمٌ۠ (6)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And when Moosa said to his people, 'Remember Allah's favour upon you when He rescued you from the people of Fir'awn who were inflicting you with a dreadful torment, and were slaying your sons and keeping your daughters alive. And in it (i.e. rescuing you) was a great bounty of your Lord.

14.7

وَ اِذْ تَاَذَّنَ رَبُّكُمْ لَىٕنْ شَكَرْتُمْ لَاَزِیْدَنَّكُمْ وَ لَىٕنْ كَفَرْتُمْ اِنَّ عَذَابِیْ لَشَدِیْدٌ(7)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And remember when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will henceforth give you more; and if you are ungrateful, My punishment is henceforth severe.'

14.8

وَ قَالَ مُوْسٰۤى اِنْ تَكْفُرُوْۤا اَنْتُمْ وَ مَنْ فِی الْاَرْضِ جَمِیْعًاۙ-فَاِنَّ اللّٰهَ لَغَنِیٌّ حَمِیْدٌ(8)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

And Moosa said, 'If you and all who are on the earth become disbelievers; so, Allah is indeed Independent, Most Praiseworthy.'

14.9

اَلَمْ یَاْتِكُمْ نَبَؤُا الَّذِیْنَ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ قَوْمِ نُوْحٍ وَّ عَادٍ وَّ ثَمُوْدَ ﲣ وَ الَّذِیْنَ مِنْۢ بَعْدِهِمْ ﳍ لَا یَعْلَمُهُمْ اِلَّا اللّٰهُؕ-جَآءَتْهُمْ رُسُلُهُمْ بِالْبَیِّنٰتِ فَرَدُّوْۤا اَیْدِیَهُمْ فِیْۤ اَفْوَاهِهِمْ وَ قَالُوْۤا اِنَّا كَفَرْنَا بِمَاۤ اُرْسِلْتُمْ بِهٖ وَ اِنَّا لَفِیْ شَكٍّ مِّمَّا تَدْعُوْنَنَاۤ اِلَیْهِ مُرِیْبٍٝ (9)

Kanz ul Iman Kanz ul Irfan

Did the news not reach you of those who existed before you; the People of Nooh, and 'Aad and Thamood, and those after them? Only Allah knows them. Their Messengers came to them with clear proofs, they hence raised their hands towards their own mouths (biting their fingers in anger) and said, 'We disbelieve in what you have been sent with, and we are in such a gravely hindering doubt regarding the path you call us to.'
