Surah Al Insan Translation

76.1

هَلْ اَتٰى عَلَى الْاِنْسَانِ حِیْنٌ مِّنَ الدَّهْرِ لَمْ یَكُنْ شَیْــٴًـا مَّذْكُوْرًا(1)

Indeed, there has passed such a time upon man that his name did not even exist anywhere.

76.2

اِنَّا خَلَقْنَا الْاِنْسَانَ مِنْ نُّطْفَةٍ اَمْشَاجٍ ﳓ نَّبْتَلِیْهِ فَجَعَلْنٰهُ سَمِیْعًۢا بَصِیْرًا(2)

Indeed, We have created man from a drop of mixed-sperm (of man and woman) in order to test him, We henceforth made him hearing, seeing.

76.3

اِنَّا هَدَیْنٰهُ السَّبِیْلَ اِمَّا شَاكِرًا وَّ اِمَّا كَفُوْرًا(3)

We have indeed shown him the (right) path; whether (by believing) he be grateful or (by disbelieving) be ungrateful.

76.4

اِنَّاۤ اَعْتَدْنَا لِلْكٰفِرِیْنَ سَلٰسِلَاۡ وَ اَغْلٰلًا وَّ سَعِیْرًا(4)

We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a Blazing Fire for the disbelievers.

76.5

اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ یَشْرَبُوْنَ مِنْ كَاْسٍ كَانَ مِزَاجُهَا كَافُوْرًاۚ (5)

Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup, containing a mixture of Kaafoor.

76.6

عَیْنًا یَّشْرَبُ بِهَا عِبَادُ اللّٰهِ یُفَجِّرُوْنَهَا تَفْجِیْرًا(6)

What is that Kaafoor? A spring from which the special bondsmen of Allah will drink, causing it to flow wherever they wish in their palaces.

76.7

یُوْفُوْنَ بِالنَّذْرِ وَ یَخَافُوْنَ یَوْمًا كَانَ شَرُّهٗ مُسْتَطِیْرًا(7)

They fulfil their vows and fear that Day whose evil is widespread.

76.8

وَ یُطْعِمُوْنَ الطَّعَامَ عَلٰى حُبِّهٖ مِسْكِیْنًا وَّ یَتِیْمًا وَّ اَسِیْرًا(8)

And out of His love, they feed the needy, the orphan and the prisoner.

76.9

اِنَّمَا نُطْعِمُكُمْ لِوَجْهِ اللّٰهِ لَا نُرِیْدُ مِنْكُمْ جَزَآءً وَّ لَا شُكُوْرًا(9)

They (i.e. the righteous) say to them, 'We give you food merely for the sake of Allah; we do not seek any reward or gratitude from you.'

76.10

اِنَّا نَخَافُ مِنْ رَّبِّنَا یَوْمًا عَبُوْسًا قَمْطَرِیْرًا(10)

'Indeed, we fear from our Lord such a Day which is extremely bitter, extremely severe.'
